• Ryan Michael Gavala, 39, of 1883 Christy Road, Hermitage, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 1:13 p.m. May 7 ion Sharon New Castle Road at Norris Avenue, police said. Police said they found a metal container in the driver’s side door with a sandwich bag with 1.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in it, three white pills in a metal container suspected to be Xanax and a used syringe with drug residue in it.

He also was charged with obstruction of justice for refusing to identify himself.

• Israel T. Chapman, 37, of 916 Norris Ave., Farrell, was charged with strangulation and assault after an incident reported at 2:43 p.m. Sunday at home, police said. Police said he choked a woman and hit her in the face, causing cuts and bleeding.

• Alexis L. Fairfax, 35, of 1365 Bolde Drive, Apartment 1B, Hermitage, was charged with criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana after an incident reported at 7:04 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Staunton Avenue, police said. Police said she broke the windshield of a truck with a metal painting in the parking lot of a business. Police also said she had a metal pipe containing burnt chore and suspected crack cocaine residue and a THC smoking device with a THC substance in it.

• Tressie L. McKenzie, 26, Pulaski, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 11:56 a.m. May 13 at Stambaugh Avenue and Division Street. Police said she had a sandwich bag containing nine orange capsules of Adderall with no prescription.

• Jared Graham, 25, Grove City, was charged with assault after an incident reported at 2:28 a.m. May 3 in the 300 block of Opre Avenue, police said. Police said he assaulted a 25-year-old woman, causing visible injury.

• Sonny Gruber, 74, of 35 Stone Ridge Blvd., Hermitage, was charged with making terroristic threats after an incident reported at 11:01 p.m. Sunday at home, police said. Police said threatened to rape and kill a woman.

• Gisella Maria Marcoccia, 55, of 800 Linden St., Apartment 204, Sharon, was charged with possession of marijuana after an incident at 2:15 p.m. Monday at Walmart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, police said. Police said she was being arrested on a warrant from the district attorney’s office for failure to appear to face a Sharon police charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, and she had a small cigarette blunt that contained marijuana.

• Edward Benard Witcher, 50, of 439 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, was charged with making terroristic threats and assault after an incident reported at 4:38 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Wengler Avenue, police said. Police said he threatened to break a woman’s jaw, and hit her in the side of the head with a cell phone.

• Robert Charles Hughes, 40, Scranton, Pa., was charged with burglary and theft after an incident reported at 6:36 p.m. May 10 in the 500 block of Spruce Avenue, police said. Police said he stole a crystal carousel worth $1,200 from the residence.

• Joshua Nickola Nichols, 40, of 1049 Hillcrest St., Sharon, was charged May 10 with theft by deception after an incident reported at 12:30 p.m. April 13 in the 1300 block of Ashton Road, police said. Police said he accepted $800 from the victim while creating the impression he would use it for supplies and materials to complete a project in the victim’s house.
